Have you ever
been caught ... Then you have been BUSTED! And there's a BUSTED! story you need to SLAM!
OR ... did you
ever ...
OR ... have you
ever ... Whatever BUSTED story you have, come SLAM it at the next "Rumors of Life on Earth" StorySLAM:
Where:
Genna’s Lounge, 105 W. Main, Madison (Inn on the Park corner of
Capital Square). StorySLAM is a storytelling competition. The night's champion wins fabulous prizes, and earns bragging rights, a bounce in their step, and a smug air of superiority. All stories must have a BUSTED! theme connection (however loose), be told without notes, and be told in 7 minutes or less — or you can get BUSTED! Compose your BUSTED! story and start practicing now. Tell to your friends, family, classmates, co-workers, pets. At the SLAM it'll come so easy you'll be surprised when you're done. NOTE: Material may have mature content.
Mark your
calendar and get word-of-mouth (or mouth-to-mouth) going right away!
Invite and bring everyone you can. Listeners welcome.
Thanks!
March 25, 2007 Saturday, March 24th's DECEPTION! StorySLAM was full of laughs and a few tears. There were tales of love lost, tricky travels, troublesome trevails and much more. The night's champion teller walked away (and shared) the world's biggest chocolate donut, plus a jumbo bag of delicious, Honey-Nut flavored Bagel Seeds and his very own, giant envelope of ... Big Bucks!!! A good time was definitely had by all. Everyone left ready to return for the NEXT StorySLAM ...
Compose your BUSTED! story and start practicing now for Madison's first mid-week SLAM. Then the story'll come so easy you'll be surprised when you're done telling it. Invite and bring your family and friends. Regale everyone with your BUSTED! story. Mark your calendar and get word-of-mouth (or mouth-to-mouth) going right away! It's just before the Northlands Storytelling Network Annual Conference - "Well-Worn Paths and Roads Less Traveled." Click www.northlands.net for details. I look forward to seeing you there, too. Enjoy! - StorySLAMFan (aka Reid Miller)

January 29,
2007 As was befitting the COLD! theme, it was below freezing outside, but urban spoken word storytelling competition got a warm reception inside at the first StorySLAM at Genna's Lounge in Madison, WI, on Saturday, January 27, 2007. Genna's is small, but the seats were filled as 7 storytellers competed. The night's champion was Jim Winship of Whitewater with a cool tale of Norse gods and Wisconsin places. He nosed ahead of runner-up Kay Weeden of Stoughton who shared a bi-lingual story about growing corn in tropical climes while it was Winter in the USA. All performances were wonderful. At the open mic after the SLAM, Susan Santner of Fitchburg - who also helped judge the performances - chilled everyone's spines with the tale of a mysterious murderer and Liam Rainwater of Madison tickled funnybones with a tale of acid tripping at Catholic Mass on a cold Sunday of his youth. The crowd unanimously asked when the next SLAM will be. More are planned for February, March and April. Watch this web site, our MySpace page, emails, and other sources for details. To get on the StorySLAM email guest list, email: storyslamfan@yahoo.com.
